Intel® Integrated Performance Primitives Performance

One way to demonstrate Intel IPP performance gain is by comparing the performance of the generic C version with that of the code optimized for Intel® Pentium® III processor and Intel® Pentium® 4 processor.

The diagram on the right compares the performance of three sets of Intel IPP functions: for signal processing, image processing, and JPEG processing. The gray column reflects the generic C version, the blue column reflects the Pentium III processor version, and the red column represents the Pentium 4 processor performance.

The performance ratios are summarized in the following table.

Library Name Generic C version Intel Pentium III processor Intel Pentium 4 processor
Intel IPP for signal processing 1
1.9
3.1
Intel IPP for image processing 1
2.2
3.8
Intel IPP for JPEG processing 1
