The Intel® compilers can generate binaries that run on all IA-32 processors but that are optimized for specific processors.

For example, you may want your code to be backwards compatible with all IA-32 processors, but to also take advantage of the features of the Pentium® 4 processor with Streaming SIMD Extensions 3 (SSE3).

This lesson explains the optimizations you can use to take advantage of specific processor features.
