Steps to post a homework set with your Brightspace course

• Within your Brightspace course, find the Context ID of the course. Two ways to find it. Click on Content in your Brightspace course. From the URL of the Brightspace course, pick the number between content and Home. That number would be the Context ID. Second option is to choose the following - Content → Existing Activities → WeBWork

• Fill the LMS Context ID to connect your WeBWork course with your Brightspace course. It can be accomplished like the following. In your WeBWork course, choose the following - Course Configuration → LTI → LMS Context ID. Fill that field with the Context ID from the previous step.

• Open up homework sets in your WeBWork course as needed by adjusting opening dates and create a webwork account in account manager matching your netid with privilages as professor.

• Go to your Brightspace course and use content selection like the following - Content → Existing Activities → WeBWork. As shown the screenshot below, all homework sets would be listed. Select the homework sets as needed and choose Submit Choices. Please make sure that the selected homework sets are open to students.

• Go to Assessments → Grades, make sure that a corresponding grade item is auto created and associated with the external learning tool. By default this new grade item won't be included in final grade calculation. To include it in final calculation, please click on the grade item and unselect “Exclude from Final Grade Calculation”.

Notes

• Student WeBWork accounts would be auto created when they click on the homework set link for the first time. Instructor WeBWork accounts need to be created manually in WeBWork.

• Compared to WeBWork 2.14 we have currently, content selection greatly simplifies posting of homework sets in Brightspace.

• Only the grade passback mode of homework is tested. There is the option to disable it or change to Course mode (available via Course Configuration → LTI). Those options are untested. Please stick with the default homework mode for grade passback.
