APUO Awards (posted Oct 21). I have been asked to announce the following: In 2003-2004, APUO will fund between 50-60 awards of $500 each. To be eligible for the award, an applicant must: be a full-time undergraduate or graduate student at the University of Ottawa; at the time of the application, have already completed one year of university studies, or the equivalent; continue full-time studies at the University of Ottawa in the winter term following the application (i.e. winter 2004); demonstrate financial need and academic merit. Application forms are available at the offices of the APUO (Room 348, University Centre) or at Financial Aid (1st Floor, University Centre). The deadline for submitting applications is Friday, November 14, 2003.

Midterm. As decided in class, the midterm will be on Tuesday, Oct. 28. It covers all topics up to todays (Oct 21) class; see topics covered in class.

Last Year's Midterm (posted Oct 21). Several of you have asked me for last year's midterm. Please note that last year, topics were covered differently; thus, this year's topics will be different (they include public key cryptography).
