xpra-native
It is possible to use Xpra with a native client. The native client is expected to perform better than the browser solution, as it supports hardware acceleration available on the client. The native client supports OpenGL acceleration, seamless windows for remote applications (like running natively) and multi monitor support. Here are the steps -
- Download and install the native client.
- Please download and install the client depending on your client operating system - for windows platform. Mac and Linux binaries are available here.Choose the latest 6.x.x version client.
- Start XPRA from start menu and the configuration menu appears as shown below.
- As a one time step, choose Configure → Features → Enable file transfer as in screenshot below.
- If there is no existing XPRA session on the server, please choose Start, fill out the details like the screenshot below and choose Start & Attach.
- At this point, XPRA session is started on the server. It is possible to check the status on the server via an SSH session like below.
xpra list
- An “X” would appear in the taskbar at the right hand bottom section of your desktop. Clicking on the “X” will show a start menu like below.
- Uploading and Downloading of files are possible via the Server menu as shown below.
- Choose Start Menu → Applications to start LXTerminal or another application as shown in screenshot below.
- Once you have finished using XPRA, please choose disconnect from XPRA menu. Started applications will keep on running.
- If you already have an XPRA session running, here is how you could connect to that session and access the running applications. Start XPRA and choose Connect as shown in screenshot below and click on Connect.
Notes
- Please do not save the password in XPRA client, as the account password gets saved in clear text.
