My general interest is to find robust procedures in various settings, including for models in molecular evolution and marine ecology. As part of this am interested in developing methods for constructing and evaluating robust confidence intervals and tests.
Molecular Biology
Am interested in developing reliable inference methods in phylogeny where we estimate trees. Am working on developing robust methods for combining information across genes to obtain a robust tree estimate.
Marine Ecology
Want to develop robust methods for prediction and estimation in state space models with a particular interest in models arising from fish population dynamics and the tracking of marine animals.
Saddlepoint Approximations
Have a continuing interest in using saddlepoint methods to evaluate tail areas accurately in multi-dimensional problems. It is often of interest to carry out these approximations empirically and it is important to assess the accuracy of the intervals.
