Welcome to the Halifax Hex Club! We meet weekly to play the board game Hex.
Meetings
Hex Club meetings are on Fridays at 5pm Halifax time. We usually alternate between in-person or online. Here is a list of some upcoming meetings for 2024. You can also subscribe to this Google calendar.

Unless otherwise noted, the in-person meetings take place at the Bulwark Cider House, 1518 Dresden Row. They are open to everyone. There is no admission fee.
The online meetings take place on a private website. Due to technical limitations, they are currently by invitation only.

- Hex: A strategy guide. A free interactive online book by Matthew Seymour. Great introduction to basic, intermediate and some advanced Hex strategy.
- Matthew Seymour's Hex puzzles. A collection of 500 interactive puzzles. These puzzles start easy, then gradually get harder. Great tactics training. Very addictive!
- The HexWiki. An in-depth reference for everything related to Hex. Contains lots of detailed information on basic, intermediate, and advanced strategy. Probably too much information for beginners. Start with Matthew Seymour's book instead.
- HexWorld interactive Hex board. For replaying, analyzing, and sharing games.
- David King's Hex templates. A comprehensive list of edge templates, interior templates, ladder creation templates, and more.
- Peter Selinger's Hex templates. Another template collection, containing many larger and less common templates.
- How to play Hex. A video with just the rules.
- Hex: The full story. A book on the history of Hex by Ryan Hayward and Bjarne Toft. Full of interesting anecdotes, background information, original documents, and more.
- Buy a board. Maple boards in sizes 11x11 and 13x13 from Atlantic Hex. If you are in Halifax, contact Peter directly (no need to pay for shipping).

These game records are in the SGF format. They can be opened, for example, with HexGui or with the HexWorld Online SGF Editor. Many of the games are commented.
